Saturday is all about Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park. The two most important races on the calendar are at Gulfstream and Oaklawn. Virtual game ideas for groups. The Southwest Stakes (Gr. 3) is offering $750,000 compared to $300,000 for the Fountain of Youth Stakes. Along with the Southwest, we have the $600,000 Razorback Handicap (Gr. 3) at Oaklawn on Saturday.
Oaklawn Park has 11 races expected to be run in Hot Springs on Saturday. Distance:6 Furlongs
Purse:$27,500
In our first pick at Oaklawn Park, we’ll make a stop at Race 5 for a $27,500 event covering 6 furlongs on the main track. Davidic Line and General Trev are two competitors that should be held in high regard for this assignment. Davidic Line is a winner in one out of 14 races in his career. He has finished 2nd, 5th, 6th, 4th, 2nd in his previous five trips, so okay, but inconsistent recently.
His most recent entry was a solid effort, placing 2nd behind Sharecropper by 8 lengths in a $32,000 event. Davidic Line will move down in class for this outing on Saturday. The drop in competition should put Davidic Line somewhere in the mix during the stretch run. His biggest opponent in this race has to be General Trev.
General Trev is forecast to have a big career. After two outings, General Trev looked like a horse going places in his career. The gelding has finished 1st and 2nd in two appearances on February 29, 2020 and April 4, 2020. As a rookie, General Trev was a winner over Hunt the Floor by 1 ¾ lengths in a $87,000 assignment.
He was unable to repeat in the spring, but still ran a big race to place 2nd behind Finnick the Fierce in a $61,000 race. General Trev is coming off a layoff, but his work in the morning has been encouraging. If he runs anything like he was before the break, then General Trev should clear this competition relatively easily. Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
Purse:$200,000
The $200,000 Spring Fever Stakes is one of three stakes races at Oaklawn on Saturday. This 5 ½ furlong race will take place on the dirt. Amy’s Challenge and Kimari likely battle in the stretch for the win in Race 8. Amy’s Challenge is 8 for 20 in her career, and has finished top-2 in five of his previous seven outings.
She finished 1st and 2nd in her previous two outings, both stakes races. Amy’s Challenge beat Unique Factor by 2 ¼ lengths in the $150,000 McConnell Springs Stakes by 2 ¼ lengths. She was able to come back for another bold performance on January 30 to place 2nd.
Amy’s Challenge was short by 1 ¼ lengths behind Frank’s Rockette in that assignment, the $150,000 American Beauty Stakes. Frank’s Rockette is a really talented horse, and was expected to be too tough for the field going into that race. A loss for Amy’s Challenge there wasn’t surprising. Best casino game gta online.
Kimari from the outside should prove to be a horse to watch closely. She is a four-time winner across eight races in her career. In the biggest assignment of her career, Kimari held up well in the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (Gr. 2) to finish 4th against a tough field in 2019.
Since that performance, Kimari has finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd. She won the $100,000 Purple Martin Stakes by 1 ¾ lengths over Frank’s Rockette on April 4, 2020. At Ascot over the pond, Kimari ran well in the Commonwealth Cup (Gr. 1) to place 2nd.
She has been on a bit of a layoff since showing 3rd on September 15 at Kentucky Downs in the $400,000 Music City Stakes. It wasn’t a bad effort to show 3rd, but more is expected from Kimari. She has been incredibly quick in workouts leading up to Saturday. Kimari was timed at 59.55 and 57.35 seconds at 5 furlongs. That form suggests a superior run for Kimari on Saturday. Race 10 – Southwest Stakes+150 (3/2)+1000 (10/1)+1200 (12/1)+160 (8/5)+1500 (12/1)+800 (8/1)+450 (9/2)

Race 10 is the $750,000 Southwest Stakes, the biggest race in the world on Saturday. This is going to be a highly entertaining race between two horses regarded as potential winners of the Kentucky Derby in May. It’s going to make for a must-watch duel between Jackie’s Warrior and Essential Quality. Jackie’s Warrior has the talent to win this race and beyond. He is a four-time winner in five races.
His win streak ended at four races, which included wins in the $150,000 Saratoga Special (Gr. 2) on August 7, $250,000 Runhappy Hopeful Stakes (Gr. 1), and $250,000 Champagne Stakes (Gr. 1). His win streak was disrupted on November 6 in the $2,000,000 TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (Gr. 1). Despite the loss, expect Jackie’s Warrior to have his say with a chance to bounce back against Essential Quality.
Essential Quality won by ¾ lengths ahead of Hot Rod Charlie, and comfortably ahead of Jackie’s Warrior by around 3 lengths. He went off with excellent kick in the final furlong, while Jackie’s Warrior weakened and gave way at the same time. Joel Rosario ran an excellent race aboard Essential Quality.
He is a perfect three for three in his career, which also includes a win in the $400,000 Breeders’ Futurity (Gr. 1) by 3 ¼ lengths on October 3. It would not be surprising to see an all out duel between Jackie’s Warrior and Essential Quality. Highly entertaining race that sets up plenty of Kentucky Derby hype. Look out for Essential Quality late at the wire
Friday has a full slate of horse racing on the docket with 14 racecourses available for wagering. There are only a couple of small stakes races in the US, both at Turfway Park worth $100,000 and $65,000. The big stakes racing will be turned up several notches on Saturday with at least 22 stakes races expected. Oaklawn Park has a $750,000 and $600,000 race, but the most highly anticipated is the $300,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes (Gr. 2) at Gulfstream Park.
50 points will go to the winning team to put towards the Kentucky Derby. That should be enough for an automatic ticket to an invite to the Kentucky Derby in May. Note that 20 horses are permitted to arrive at the starting gate for the Derby. It depends on what other horses do, but 50 points is usually good to get in. There is going to be nothing like that on Friday, but certainly more than enough ponies to handicap.
We are going to open the day in Arkansas at Oaklawn Park, which is the home of the $750,000 Southwest Stakes (Gr. 3) and $600,000 Razorback Handicap (Gr. 3) on Saturday. Today is a warm-up day at Oaklawn Park, with $380,500 in prize money spread across nine races on the dirt. Head below for our free Oaklawn Park picks for February 26, 2021. We will get started at Oaklawn Park with Race 5, a $28,500 event covering 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. There are ten horses scheduled to participate in Race 5, with Southern Cents and Tonal Vision likely front runners in the stretch. Southern Cents should be a hot commodity from the outside.
She has been in consistent form with top-3 finishes in four straight performances. In five of her previous six races, she’s gone top-3 and is coming off a productive outing on February 7. Southern Cents earned some of the purse with a 2nd place effort. She placed 2nd behind Forevernoa by 2 ½ lengths in the $27,000 assignment.
Forevernoa just never faded away in that race like Southern Cent’s team were hoping. Tonal Vision is a two-time winner in ten assignments. In her previous four outings, Tonal Vision has finished 1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th in her last four performances. She won on October 7 over Flower House by 2 ¼ lengths in a $25,000 race, and then faltered in the next three.
Tonal Vision finished 4th in her most recent race on January 31, but is moving way down in class for this entry. That was a $84,000 event that Tonal Vision finished 4th in. This is all way down the class scale to a $28,500 assignment on Friday at Oaklawn. She’s had success in this class in the past, and should feel much more comfortable on these terms. In our second selection at Oaklawn Park, we’ll make a stop for Race 6 right after Tonal Vision hopefully wins. Top Gunner and Long Term Thinking should run well in the stretch run in this event. Top Gunner has finished 6th and 3rd in his career, showing 3rd in his most recent start for nice improvement.
He finished 3rd on December 20 in a $28,000 assignment to indicate an improvement in form after 6th in his debut. The key to Top Gunner winning this race is to continue to show improvement. If he can do that then a win is going to be within reach. Top Gunner looked promising in a recent workout on February 5 with a time of 1:00.40 at 4 furlongs.
Long Term Thinking is winless in eight starts, but has consistently been close to striking. In eight performances, Long Term Term Thinking has finished top-2 in seven and top-3 in every outing. It’s just bad luck keeping Long Term Thinking out of the winner’s circle. Eventually he is going to break through for a win.
In his most recent outings, Long Term Thinking placed 2nd behind War Detonator by ¾ lengths in a $29,500 event on November 20 at Churchill Downs. Long Term Thinking placed 2nd behind Pintxos by a neck in a $30,000 event on January 24. He looked sharp in a workout on February 6 with a time of 49 seconds at 4 furlongs. Race 8 is a mile event for a $36,000 prize on the dirt. Ten horses are expected to participate in the race, with Jalen Journey and Seven Nation Army in nice form recently. Jalen Journey is coming off back-to-back wins and in search of a hat-trick at Oaklawn Park on Friday.
Overall, he has a 50% success rate with 5 for 10 in his career, including a win on November 20 and January 23. In the November win, Jalen Journey defeated Boyfriend Material by 2 ¼ lengths in a $43,500 outing, and then followed up for another win in a $50,000 event over Town Champ by 3 ¼ lengths on January 23. Oaklawn Betting AppOaklawn Anywhere App
With stakes experience to his name as well, this $500,000 horse has to be considered in the stretch. Seven Nation Army is 7 for 24 and has finished top-3 in five straight performances, including top-2 in four of five performances. In his most recent victory, Seven Nation Army beat Hollis by a head in a $95,000 assignment.
He is coming off a stakes run in the $150,000 King Cotton Stakes and did pretty well. Seven Nation Army finished 1 length back of a win in that assignment. He’s produced a speed rating more than 100 in five straight starts. I’m going to support Seven Nation Army in Race 8, though will have to deal with company from Jalen Journey and possibly Strike That.
